Alkanet Root Powder

:

Alkanna tinctoria

Color is one of nature’s richest gifts. Plant based dyes have enhanced man-made objects for centuries. Alkanet is a low-growing perennial herb. Yellowstone Bees uses Alkanet root in our natural Herbal Soaps where it yields wonderful shades of pink, blue and purple.

Almond Oil, Sweet

:

Prunus amygdalus dulcis

Cold-pressed from raw almond kernels, sweet almond oil is one of the most useful, practical carrier oils that we use. It softens, soothes, and re-conditions all types of skin. This protein-rich oil is packed with Vitamin D and fatty acids that help relieve itching, soreness, dryness and inflammation. Some sources say it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. Everyone agrees it is a superior emollient, which prevents water loss from the skin.

At Yellowstone Bees®, we rely on sweet almond oil to deliver the skincare benefits of all our natural ingredients in several of our Bath & Spa products including our Bath and Body Oils and Everyday Body Scrubs.

:

Cera flava

Beeswax is a completely natural product that cannot be duplicated. This substance, what remains after honey is extracted from the honeycomb, has been used since the beginning of civilization. It has been found in Pharaoh’s tombs, sunken Viking ships and Roman ruins. There is evidence that the ancient Greeks used beeswax to heal sores and wounds as well as make cosmetics.

Hippocrates and Galen didn’t know it, but it is the all-natural antibiotic propolis that gives beeswax its healing powers. This substance is rich in vitamins, amino acids and valuable trace elements.

100% natural triple filtered beeswax is a key ingredient in many of our most popular products. We rely on it to protect your skin against environmental irritants and lock in moisture. Since it does not go bad, beeswax also serves as a natural preservative, helping extend the shelf life of our products.

You will find beeswax in several Yellowstone Bees products including our Hand & Body Creams, Lip Balms, Hand & Foot Balms, Cuticle Crème, and Herbal Soaps.

It contains lauric acid, which the body can eventually use to destroy lipid coated viruses such as herpes or influenza. There is some evidence that it may aid in weight loss because the body converts it directly to energy rather than storing it as fat.

Fragrance Oils

Yellowstone Bees makes every effort to exclusively use blends of natural oils in the formulation of our fragrances. However, at times we do rely on fragrance oils to create a popular scent that would otherwise be cost prohibitive or impossible to make. Although these oils are derived from botanical substances, the extraction process is not 100% natural. These are the only ingredients we use that are not 100% natural.

Flavoring oils are much like fragrance oils, but are designed to be ingested. For our lip balms, we use three flavoring oils: huckleberry, raspberry, and vanilla.

Geranium Essential Oil

Jojoba Oil

:

Simmondsia chinensis seed oil

Native Americans tapped the power of the jojoba plant long ago for hair and skin care. The plant oil is very similar to the skin’s own sebum, which prevents skin and hair from drying out.

Jojoba seed oil is technically not an “oil” at all. It is a wax. The wax is concentrated in the seeds of the jojoba plant, native to the Baja peninsula and American southwest. This cold pressed oil makes a stable carrier oil with a soft rich feel.

Yellowstone Bees® adds jojoba oil to several of our products to protect skin from moisture loss and promote glowing complexions. You can find jojoba oil in our Foot Scrub and Aromatherapy Body Polish.

Olive Oil

:

Olea europaea fruit oil

The ancient Greeks used olive oil for all types of skin care, including bathing. It is an excellent moisturizer, attracting external moisture and holding it close to the skin. This creates a "breathable" film on the skin’s surface, which prevents loss of moisture yet allows the skin to still perform its natural functions.

First cultivated in the ancient “fertile crescent”, the olive tree spread throughout the Mediterranean, where the majority of olive trees are grown today. The fruit is cold pressed to yield a soothing, heavy oil with a distinct and pungent aroma.

Yellowstone Bees® adds olive oil to a large number of its skin care products to take full advantage of this powerful moisturizer. You will find olive oil in many of our Body Care Products.
