- Phone: Call us at 1-888-530-5601 to talk with one of our experienced, knowledgeable and friendly customer service folks. When calling after hours, please leave your name and phone number and we’ll return your call the next business day.
- Fax or Mail: To fax or mail an order, simply add items to your shopping cart online. When you have finished shopping, print the shopping cart. Then, either fax it to us at 1-406-624-0107 or drop in the mail to us at Yellowstone Bees, 366 Gallatin Park Drive, Ste A, Bozeman, MT 59715. Remember to include your payment information and a phone number or email address on any faxed or mailed order, in case we have a question on your order.
- Shipping Information
- Orders generally ship within 3-5 business days unless otherwise noted. All orders will be shipped via Federal Express (FedEx) ground service, United Parcel Service (UPS) ground service or United States Postal Service (USPS), depending on the size and weight of the package. We search for the most cost effective shipping method to save our customers money on shipping. If you require expedited shipping, we are happy to accommodate; however, you must pay for the full cost of any expedited shipping.
All shipments are made at the buyer’s expense and risk. We do not insure orders unless requested to do so or in extraordinary circumstances. Insurance charges will be billed to the buyer.
At this time, Yellowstone Bees can only accept orders from, and ship to addresses within the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii). - Return Policy
- We absolutely, positively, want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchases, so please let us know if products are damaged in transit or if you ever have any questions, concerns or comments about any Yellowstone Bees® product.
All sales are final. Credit will be issued only for defective or damaged merchandise or for products shipped to you in error by Yellowstone Bees®. We will not under any circumstances issue store credits or refunds on products that are not physically damaged. Once a product container is opened, our natural body care products are not returnable due to sanitary reasons and possible contamination.
Claims must be reported within 5 days after receipt of merchandise. Product must be returned for verification and customer is responsible for costs incurred during shipping including insurance. No returns will be accepted without authorization. Packaging requirements for returns should comply with general UPS / Fed Ex standards for these types of products. Any goods returned that are damaged while shipping during return will not be refunded. All returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee unless they are damaged goods. No returns after 30 days.
Yellowstone Bees® will refund or credit up to the full amount paid for legitimate damaged goods returns within 30 days after the return. Replacement products will be in the same scent and size as the original order. - Retail Locations

What makes Yellowstone Bees® different?
Our products put your body first. We have the utmost respect for the challenges of healthy living. We want you to have the option of putting only natural, healthy products on your skin. (After all, it soaks right in!) Yellowstone Bees® products are made fresh with 100% natural ingredients and contain no artificial preservatives. With Yellowstone Bees®, you don't have to wonder what you're using, or whether it's good for you. You can read and pronounce every ingredient on every label of every item we make. Where does the name Yellowstone Bees® come from?
Our first products were inspired by a love and respect for nature's cures. Yellowstone National Park happened to be not far from our founder’s home in Sweet Grass County, Montana. Borrowing a little of Yellowstone Park's cache seemed like a fitting tribute to Mother Nature.
We stumbled onto the Bees part. You see, when we began developing formulas for our growing product line, we discovered beeswax was critical to many of our recipes. The more we learned, the more we had to hand it to these busy little bugs. So, as a tribute to the humble bumbles that make some of the healthiest stuff around, we added Bees to our name. Thus, Yellowstone Bees.
Where is your company located?
We’re located in Bozeman, under Montana’s Big Sky. It’s a historic western town tucked into an agricultural valley in the southwestern corner of the state. We are surrounded by inspiring mountain views.
The company moved to Bozeman in 2006, after outgrowing its original home in Sweet Grass County, Montana. In Bozeman, we are part of a vibrant entrepreneurial business community and have access to many business development resources offered through Montana State University, which sits on the edge of downtown.
Do you raise bees?
No, we don’t. Beekeeping is a demanding agricultural specialty that’s all about cross-pollination, hive building, colony management, honey production and beeswax extraction. We leave that to professionals and instead focus on creating formulas for effective, safe, natural skin care. That’s what we know best – and there is minimal risk of being stung.
Where are Yellowstone Bees® products manufactured? Over 50% of our products are manufactured at our plant in Bozeman, MT. The rest are produced by respectable American manufacturers. We are proud to display the Products of the USA logo and flag!
Do you do animal testing?
Never. Yellowstone Bees® does not conduct product testing on animals. All of our ingredients are safe.
Is Yellowstone Bees® green? What is your sustainability policy?
We are committed to implementing sustainable practices throughout our operations. For example, we ship in recycled boxes whenever possible. In 2007, we revamped our shipping procedures to minimize packing materials. We have a recycling program in place in the office and actively seek ways to minimize energy usage in our facilities. Our web site eliminates many hard copy orders and confirmations and replaces them with electronic records.
One of our ongoing sustainability challenges is in product packaging. We are actively working with container suppliers to source additional effective, safe packaging that is recycled or recyclable or both. We are constantly testing new alternatives. If you have any questions about the packaging of Yellowstone Bees products, please email or call us. Further, we work with reputable suppliers to source our raw materials so that we are confident that all harvesting and processing is earth-friendly.
Where do you buy your ingredients? Our ingredients come from plants grown all over the world. To secure them, we rely on a close network of trusted suppliers – many of whom we have worked with for more than ten years. All of our suppliers are US-based, and meet US and international standards for safe and sustainable harvesting practices and full sourcing/import disclosure.
Has the Colony Collapse Disorder made a big impact on your purchasing? Not as much as you might think. Although the issue is a serious one, there are already indications that beekeepers have taken successful steps to strengthen existing colonies and minimize the spread of the disorder.
We have worked with our mid-western beeswax suppliers for more than 10 years and continue to receive reliable shipments of the highest quality beeswax.
PRODUCT QUESTIONS
I would like to know more about your ingredients. Are they really “natural”? Yes, they really are! That’s one reason we’re happy to share our ingredients list. Refer to our Ingredients Library for all the details.
Yellowstone Bees® products are free from many chemical-based or artificial substances commonly used in today’s body care products. You’ll never find the following substances in any of our products:- Mineral Oils
- Polyethylene Glycol
- Parabens (artificial preservatives)
- Propylene Glycol
- Synthetic colors
- Sodium Lauryl
- Phthalates
- Laureth Sulfates
Yes, but only natural ones! Let us explain. Ingredients like Vitamin E and Grapefruit Seed Extract are natural preservatives. And, they are important because they extend the shelf life of our products. Yellowstone Bees® does not use any artificial preservatives such as parabens, nor do we use mineral oils, or synthetic color ingredients. I have very sensitive skin. Are your products safe for my use?
All of our products are safe to use anywhere on your body. Please use caution on sensitive areas because essential oils may be irritating to some people. If it is your first time using a new product, it is best to do a Skin Patch Test* prior to full usage and if you have any questions check with your doctor.
I'm pregnant. Are your products safe for my use?
If you are pregnant or nursing, we recommend that you check with your doctor before using any products with essential oils. If it is your first time using a new product, it is best to do a Skin Patch Test* prior to full usage and if you have any questions check with your doctor.
Can I use Yellowstone Bees® products on my children?
In general, yes with older children and teenagers. For very young children, we recommend moderation or not at all. Check with your doctor first before using any essential oil based product with children of any age.

What is the shelf life of Yellowstone Bees® products?
When stored at moderate temperatures, our products are generally good for one to three years. To keep your products as fresh as possible for as long as possible, follow these simple tips:- Keep your products covered when not in use. Essential oils will slowly evaporate from an open container.
- Keep your product out of direct sunlight and avoid extreme heat. Extremes in temperature and humidity will affect shelf life.
- Make sure your fingers are clean when dipping into your products.
No problem! The consistency may change slightly but it is still fine to use.
What is your best product for dry skin?
We have lots of great products for dry skin! Try our Hand & Foot Balm or Cuticle Crème to work miracles on these tough extremities. Our many varieties of Hand & Body Cream work well all over. And for those dry chapped lips – try our beeswax lip balms.
Do your products contain sunscreen?
Nearly all sunscreen ingredients are not natural and some have even been identified as potential carcinogens. Thus, we choose not to use such ingredients. If you need a sunscreen, we recommend you use one of our body care products first to moisturize, smooth and soften (naturally!) and then apply a protective layer of sunscreen on top.
I'm giving Yellowstone Bees products as a gift, but don't know which scent to choose. Can you make a recommendation?
We're happy to help! We offer more than 15 essential oils and 9 fragrance oils. The fragrance Rain is chosen often for gift items for either men or women. For those who prefer a floral scent, we recommend our Lavender or Sweet Pea options. If you’re looking for an energizing, uplifting gift, choose any combination of Peppermint, Eucalyptus, or our Citrus combos. Warm scents like Chamomile and Vanilla create a calm, homey feeling.

I see some of your products include fragrance. Why does Yellowstone Bees® use synthetic fragrances in some products?
In a word – customers! We have many long-standing customers who are hooked on particular fragrances that would be cost-prohibitive (or impossible) to make from pure plant extracts. We could never leave this loyal group of customers out in the cold. Beginning in 2006, however, we challenged ourselves to grow using only natural, essential oil-based scents. Every product we make now includes essential-oil based options.
Do your herbal soaps contain sodium laurel sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate (SLS)?
No. SLS (sodium laurel sulfate or sodium laureth sulfate) and other surfactants are often added to soaps to increase lather quality. They are commonly found in soaps, including many marketed as natural soaps, as well as glycerin soaps, liquid soaps, and shampoos. As synthetic compounds, SLS and other surfactants dry out your skin and, for many people, cause irritation. Our manufacturer uses neither SLS nor any other surfactants. We don't believe in cost-cutting short cuts. Instead, we prefer to focus on making a high quality soap from organic oils that doesn't depend on surfactants for its lather. We carefully balance the oils in our base recipe to provide the proper fatty acid mix for a wonderful, rich - and most importantly - completely natural lather. Source: YB manufacturer Botanie Soaps.
What do you mean by "all natural soap"?
We add no artificial substances to our soaps, such as synthetic fragrances, dyes, and preservatives, and where possible, we use organically grown products. Our pure herbal soap is scented with essential oils and colored with organic herbs and plant extracts only. The soap base recipe is made from 100% certified organic oils. Our products contain no parabens. Read through our ingredient list to see what we mean by "natural soap." Then, to really see what we mean, take a copy of our ingredients with you next time you go to the store and compare them to the ingredients of other soaps on the shelves. How organic is your soap?
We make every bar with a minimum of 85% organic ingredients. Due to the chemistry of soap, it is almost impossible to go much higher than that. Within the natural products industry, there is a conversation taking place about whether soap can be technically defined as "organic" (since soap is the result of a chemical reaction and most of the original organic materials have been transformed). For our part, we commit to making soap using ONLY organic base oils and keeping our soap's ingredients above 85% organic. Do you have organic certification?
Currently yes we do have organic certification for our Herbal Soap product line. Our soap manufacturer has organic certification under the USDA's National Organic Program. Our certifying agency is the Montana Department of Agriculture. Organic certification is a rigorous professional standard that must be validated and re-issued annually. Many skin-care companies claim to sell organic products but are not officially certified. Without certification, they are actually in breach of national policy, and, technically, they are not allowed to make the organic claim. What makes a good bar soap?
A good bar soap balances bar hardness (durability), lather quality (both fluffiness and stability), and moisturizing ability. These different properties come from the different fatty acids that make up molecules of the organic vegetable oils we use as the base of our herbal soap. Unfortunately, the fatty acids that are moisturizing are not those that contribute much to lather quality, and the ones that make great lather are drying to our skin. Do your herbal soaps contain glycerin?
Yes. Glycerin is a natural part of the vegetable oils we use to make our herbal soap, so it is a natural part of all soaps. Our soaps qualify as "glycerin soaps," because glycerin accounts for 9-10% of the final product. Unlike most commercial soap companies, we retain all glycerin produced during the saponification process. Since glycerin is a sellable commodity, commercial soap makers remove it for sale, or they keep trace amounts for mention on their labels. Our soaps differ from clear "glycerin soaps" because our bars are not transparent. To produce their transparency, "glycerin soaps" contain a sugar-alcohol compound that can dry your skin. I have sensitive skin and can't use soap. Can I use your organic herbal soap?
Although we cannot guarantee it, chances are, yes. Most skin sensitivities are aggravated by the synthetic ingredients in lotions, creams, make-up, and soaps. Without these ingredients, however, there is nothing left to irritate your skin. Many people who have had trouble with dermatologist recommended soap or "sensitive skin" soap have found success with our herbal soaps. This is because even doctor recommended sensitive skin soaps contain many unnecessary chemicals that can, and do, irritate your skin. Again, always read the list of ingredients in your soap. Do your soaps contain lye?
All soap, including ours, is made using lye (NaOH, "sodium hydroxide"). Even transparent "glycerin" soap and "melt and pour" soaps are made using lye. (Transparent glycerin soaps are made from oil and lye, like opaque soaps, except that a sugar-alcohol compound is added to maintain transparency.) In a properly produced soap, lye is a raw ingredient, but there is no lye that remains in the final product. All lye is consumed in the saponification process and presents no danger to you. Super fatting further assures that all lye is consumed. Any company that claims their soap is not made with lye is either promoting false information or doesn't understand the chemistry behind soap. - Some people are sensitive to essential oils. When in doubt, test. Apply a small amount of the product you are testing to the inside of your elbow or any other sensitive area. Cover with a band-aid. Leave overnight. In the morning check for signs of irritation or other skin sensitivity.
