Palm oil is rich is palmitic acid, vitamin E, vitamin K and magnesium. It is considered to be a natural source of anti-oxidants and is solid at room temperature. Palm oil is procured from the flesh of the fruits of the palm tree and is believed to have been used by indigenous populations since before recorded history.

Through archaeological tomb excavation, we know that palm oil must have been traded over land and was available in ancient Egypt. During these times it is believed to have been used on skin, scalp and hair as the ancient Egyptians were very concerned with cleanliness and beauty.

The use of Palm Oil is sometimes controversial. Its use has been linked to rainforest depletion and is often discouraged. However, sustainably grown Palm Oil is available.  In keeping with our desire to promote ethical and sustainable harvests, the Palm Oil that Yellowstone Bees uses is sourced from environmentally conscious suppliers that are members of the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil.  

Palm oil is rich in many vitamins and nutrients. Many of these vitamins are essential for maintaining healthy hair and skin. When hair is lacking nutrition and moisture, it becomes dry, brittle hair. The skin’s ability to absorb everything that is put on it makes Palm Oil a natural choice for moisturizing. Palm Oil is also a natural antibacterial that aids in the prevention of acne and the protection of skin cuts and scrapes.  It is common to find Palm Oil in the production of handmade soap because it increases lather and hardness.

• Generously apply Palm Oil to hair for a deeply condition treatment. Leave on hair and scalp for at least 30.
• Harness Palm Oil’s antibacterial nature to protect cuts and scraps by applying a liberal amount of Palm Oil over injured skin.
• Prevent acne and moisturize skin by applying a thin amount of Palm Oil to clean skin.
• Use a Palm Oil based organic soap to naturally clean and moisturize skin.

 

Palm Oil has a mild smell that is often thought similar to violets.
