Elemi is a tropical tree that can grow up to 98 feet. It is native to the Philippines. The essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the gum of the tree. Its color is clear to faint yellow.
The ancient Egyptians used Elemi oil in the embalming process. Today this oil is less common than its cousins – Frankincense and Myrrh, two other famous oils commonly used by the ancients. Elemi is useful in emotional healing and skin rejuvenating. It is calming and helps to regenerate skin tissue.
Elemi earned its healing reputation centuries ago as an immune system stimulant in addition to its anti-aging effect. Elemi is antiseptic, balancing, toning and has stimulant qualities. In natural skincare it is used to help rejuvenate aged, wrinkled skin, and heal infected cuts, wounds and inflammations. It can give users a feeling of peace and calm.
